Three DAYS OF THE NEW YEAR.
On the first I went out at about 4:30 and reset my overall odometer so I could see if I can get 3K miles this year. I went down Hawley to the path and turned around at Bradley (the stoplight after Lamb's Farm). It was only about 24 miles RT but not bad. I used my lights the whole time and my trek backup for a few miles on the way home when others cut out.
On the 2nd I made a run to VCA Noyes animal hospital at 14 and Kelsey in barrington. I tool 176 to barrington road I think it is, to kelsey and the left to stay on kelsey. This was only about 16 miles RT but has some good rollers (hills). I averaged 12 but these are shorter runs and I am feeling spent by the end. I am fighting something green in my lungs but mostly feel ok.
Today I rode to Crystal lake YMCA to get fingerprinted for background checks for grad school. It is not a choice route 176 then left at 31 for a couple miles. 31 has a wide paved shoulder but some on ramp crossings and 176 that way has some nasty hills. I think it was about 25 to 26 miles RT and on the way home I hit the upper 20's downhill (and I break and slow on downhills. The truckers were a bit rude and 4 times expected me to divert to the ussually unpaved sholder. They were a little nice or I got lucky becase each time I got into that far sholder it was at or near a small paved section. I did not bring in the computer yet as I may ride over to the P's with some spuds for a turkey dinner. My dad's oldest brother and wife are coming to town. Stay safe.
Nightcap recap: The ride to my parents was one way as my beautiful wife wanted me to drive home as she is super tired. With a 2nd job she's working about 6 days a week, but it's stuff she likes to do. I don't have my computer as the bike is at the P's. I only averaged 11.1 mph for the 32.8 miles of today. The inbound to the YMCA was hilly and slow. I actually hit above 31 mph on the way home downhill without peddling so it was indeed some big hills. The panniers were loaded for the dinner trip with clothes for me and the Mrs and 2 containers of smashed spuds. The wind was gusting to 20 mph. I think I have almost 70 miles for the year.
